Combining GPS and WiFi for high efficiency in a compact package, Pulse Electronics has announced two embedded ceramic multi-band chip antennas. Their small size, low cost, high efficiencies and multi-band capabilities enable a seamless antenna solution for many IoT applications in the medical, transportation, point-of-sale, vending, utility, security and tracking industries, as well as for smart homes/cities.

Pulse Electronics' W3095 is a 2-in-1 GPS/Glonass and dual-band WiFi/BT/BLE (2.4 and 4.9-5.9GHz) antenna which provides a significant reduction of antenna space when implementing both GPS and WiFi antennas on the same board. It has over 60% efficiency in the GPS/GLONASS bands, over 80% efficiency in the 2.4GHz bands and over 50% efficiency in the 5GHz bands. It has a high isolation of at least 19dB between bands.

The W3056 is a compact, single-feed, dual-band, GPS and BT/BLE/WiFi ceramic antenna. It has over 65% efficiency in the GPS band and over 70% efficiency in the 2.4GHz band. This dual-band antenna has a very small form factor of 10x3.2x1mm with a ground clearance area of 10.80x6.25mm for an easy fit on surface mount applications. The W3056 has up to 2.5dBi gain.

"These new embedded multi-band ceramic chip antennas are unique in the industry. They are a perfect antenna solution to solve your wireless needs when space is a challenge and high efficiency is needed," said Dr. Seung Hoon Baek, Senior FAE, Wireless Infrastructure, Pulse Electronics. "Plus, having a 2-in-1 combo antenna is a 50% savings in antenna cost compared to using separate GPS and WiFi antenna systems."

Pulse Electronics' W3095 and W3056 antennas are RoHS compliant and halogen-free. They both come in 1,000 unit tape and reel and are available now.
