The new Micronix PV-1800 from Datasound Laboratories is a GPRS/GSM modem on PC/104 architecture complete with an integrated 20W power supply, isolated 12-bit A/D inputs and digital I/O making it a very unique and low-cost solution for remote data logging and control.
Adding the PV-1800 to any CPU with a PC/104 interface provides an instant opportunity to get online via the TCP/IP over GPRS software while the integrated I/O enables data acquisition, control and supervision.

In addition to the dual band 900/1800MHz GSM/GPRS modem which offers the PV-1800 also includes a power supply, which provides 4A at 5V for external use, thus negating an extra power supply, and an input supply requirement of 8-35V makes it convenient for automotive and low-voltage applications.

The module also has eight isolated analogue (0-10V) inputs, enabling data acquisition directly on-board, eight digital inputs and seven high current digital outputs (all opto-isolated) to enable the control of auxiliary equipment and any faults can be reported via the SMS feature on the GSM modem.

Designed to withstand extended temperatures of -20 degC to +70 degC, the PV1800 can easily handle the shock and vibration of mobile equipment, making it deal for applications in embedded M2M control and supervision applications, vehicular and automotive systems.
