Microsemi introduce the new miSLIC Series line circuits. The new Le9662 and Le9672 telephone line interface solutions provide network operators worldwide with the industry’s most economical solution for adding two channels of voice to broadband products. This includes residential gateways, DSL integrated access devices, cable embedded multimedia terminal adapters and fiber-to-the-premise solutions.

Designed for applications requiring shared or individual power supplies, the Le9662 and Le9672 line circuits support ringing and system power management. This enables the energy efficient control of two telephone lines, meeting the European Code of Conduct on Energy Consumption of Broadband Equipment specifications. The new line circuits are also compatible with processors developed by leading SoC vendors for residential gateway applications.

Nigel Wakley, director of marketing for Microsemi’s Voice product group, comments: “Microsemi’s new miSLIC Series line circuits and shared buck boost power supply are a winning combination for adding two channels of voice to VoIP enabled broadband gateways. With more than 900 million voice line circuits shipped to customers globally, Microsemi continues to build on its leadership position in this segment by delivering innovative new products that provide our customers with a competitive edge.”

Features a patent-pending shared power supply design that rivals the most efficient power supplies available, the Le9662 only consumes approximately 51 milliwatts of power per channel in the low power standby state. Provided as an economical two-layer reference design board to reduce costs, this unique design also enables further cost-savings of approximately 30 percent over alternative power supply configurations.

Making it easy and cost-effective for customers to add voice capabilities to customer premises equipment, Microsemi’s residential gateway solutions deliver the highest levels of integration available and are optimized for short loop, power-sensitive applications. Speeding time-to-market, Microsemi also offers an extensive application toolset to complement these devices, including software development tools, reference designs and development platforms.

Packaging, pricing and availability

Offered in a 56-pin QFN package, the miSLIC Series solutions are priced from $2.70 (USD) in 1,000 unit quantities. Samples are available now.
