New from microwave and RF component specialist Link Microtek is a family of nine GaAs MMIC receiver products that integrate LNAs, I/Q mixers and multipliers or LO amplifiers to provide compact solutions with a very high level of performance. Manufactured by Hittite Microwave Corporation, the receivers cover the microwave radio bands from 7 to 28GHz and are suitable for a variety of commercial and military satcom applications.
The HMC570LC5, HMC571LC5 and HMC572LC5 receivers are supplied in RoHS-compliant SMT packages, and each one comprises an LNA, two double-balanced mixer cells and an active x2 multiplier. The HMC570LC5 operates over the 17 to 21GHz frequency range, while the HMC571LC5 covers frequencies from 21 to 25GHz, and the HMC572LC5 is designed for applications in the 24 to 28GHz band.

Featuring a noise figure as low as 3dB, the receivers can also be supplied in bare-die form as part numbers HMC570, HMC571 and HMC572.

In addition, the family includes three devices consisting of an LNA followed by an image reject mixer, which is driven by an LO buffer amplifier. Housed in RoHS-compliant SMT packages, the HMC567LC5 operates over the 7 to 9 GHz frequency range, the HMC568LC5 over the 9 to 12 GHz frequency range, and the HMC569LC5 over the 12 to 16 GHz band.

These three receivers provide small signal conversion gain of up to 14dB with a noise figure as low as 2dB, and up to 35dB of image rejection across their respective frequency bands.

The image reject structure of all nine devices eliminates the need for passive filtering, thereby providing a highly compact solution.
