Volex Supplies Cable Assemblies To Support Indian 3g Mobile Rollout

Volex’s presence in India has evolved from the manufacture and supply of power cords in the late 1990’s to a more design-heavy offering of high speed copper cable assemblies into the telecoms sector; responding to the ever-increasing demand for mobile and broadband access in the region. As India continues to develop its telecoms infrastructure with the rollout of 3G base stations, Volex has developed its long-standing relationships with global manufacturers and solutions providers and now supplies a number of cable assemblies to support the extensive project, which is expected to continue into 2012.

Volex’s customer in this contract has a significant presence in the Indian market, and the 3G rollout project demands that it relies on a strong network of suppliers to offer high quality products in large quantities. The existing working relationship between the two companies reassured the global telecoms provider that Volex can be relied upon to deliver cable assemblies which meet exacting quality standards with a short lead time, due to the proximity of the manufacturing facilities in Chennai.

Volex is supplying a total of nine types of cable assemblies for the annual contract, including power cables to be implemented at base station sites as well as copper assemblies such as RJ45 signal connector plugs and high speed copper SFP and SFP+ assemblies, which are integrated with other intra-cabinet components at the client’s manufacturing facility.
