TE Connectivity (TE), formerly Tyco Electronics, introduces a compressive 3.5mm A/V jack to fit in various mobile and other small form factor devices.
/> TE’s compressive contact design allows for floating connectors, therefore avoiding solder joint breakage. If damage is done to the connector, it can be easily replaced in the service centre without soldering, thus saving the cost of service.

The switch contact design of the connector enables wiping action, which helps increase the reliability of the switch function. And the switch contact position offers enhanced protection from dust or other contamination, therefore increasing the connector’s durability. Moreover, the connector design is highly resistant to contact push out during insertion thanks to perpendicular contact insertion.

Other benefits of TE’s compressive 3.5mm A/V jack include:
• Durable design allowing for 6000 mating cycles
• Double contacts providing increased unmating forces
• Minimized component count
• Solid and rigid contact design
• Packaged in embossed tape
