The popular range of FCT waterproof hoods for ‘D’ type connectors from Quadrant has been expanded to fit all connector sizes. These hoods offer an effective and low-cost alternative to the normal method of waterproofing ‘D’ types that involves using a waterproof connector and hood.

The popular range of FCT waterproof hoods for ‘D’ type connectors from Quadrant has been expanded to fit all connector sizes. These hoods offer an effective and low-cost alternative to the normal method of waterproofing ‘D’ types that involves using a waterproof connector and hood.

The simple design allows the hood to completely enshroud a standard non-waterproof cable connector mated to a standard, non-waterproof panel-mount connector. Sealing is achieved by an ‘O' ring seal on the front face that fits against the panel and a pressure washer that seals the cable entry. When assembled, this meets the demanding requirements of IP69K for high pressure, high temperature wash down applications at temperatures from -25°C to +75°C at up to 100bar. Two types are available: the FWA is designed to be used when mating with a rear mounted panel connector while FWAF is for front mounting.

Both are now supplied in shell sizes 1 (9-way), 2 (15-way), 3 (25-way), 4 (37-way) and 5 (50-way) with straight cable outlet with strain relief. Metallised versions are available for applications that require EMI/EMC shielding.
