ITT’s VEAM Snaplock single pole power connectors will be highlighted on Farnell’s main website before it enters the main catalogue in 2008. Snaplock family connectors take up to 250 Amps and are 30% smaller than VEAM’s Powerlock connectors which are rated at up to 660A. Both families have a similar connection band, giving minimal power loss over 500 mating cycles.
Comments ITT’s Product Manager, Nick Lewis: “When a means of rapidly connecting high power lines to equipment is required, customers need a connector with a secure locking mechanism which can be quickly released. Source contacts must be finger proof and the connection sealed. Snaplock connectors offer these features, plus a high number of mating cycles and a compact design. We are sure that Farnell’s wide customer base in applications such as high power lighting, video and audio equipment, battery-powered vehicles and mass transit systems will be pleased to know that they can access Snaplock connectors immediately through the famous Farnell catalogue and website.”

Snaplock connectors can be configured with a range of crimp contacts to take 25mm² to 75mm² / 4 AWG to 00 AWG cables. Crimp cable contacts are held in the insulator by a retention clip. Panel connectors have M12 threaded post contacts to connect to lugged cable. Insulators are colour coded and made from a high impact, UL94-V0 material.

Locked against accidental disconnection while allowing quick release of the cable connectors, Snaplock pins feature IP2X finger protection via a non-conductive cap on the pin contacts. When mated, an environmental seal to IP67 is achieved.
