An enclosure system, designed to simplify complex fibre optic mapping issues, has been introduced by Molex. The OptoConnect system uses integrated FlexPlane circuitry to provide a complete end-to-end optical management system for high density telecomms and datacomms equipment used in communication systems for aerospace and defence networks.

By integrating high density fibre optic circuits, interconnects and optional passive components, the enclosure system can streamline complex ingress and egress fibre port mapping for interconnect intensive technologies, including mesh networks, wavelength selective switching and software defined networking/network function virtualisation topologies.

Complementary products such as MPO and LC loopback connectors and MTP/MPO LC cable assemblies fill out the offering to provide a complete optical interconnect solution set. Customers also have the option to have Molex design an enclosure to meet their product specifications or use their own internal design that complements their equipment styles.

“Advanced network architectures are driving complex fibre optic interconnection topologies, which are nearly impossible to implement with patch cord based connections,” commented Tom Marrapode, Director of Marketing, Molex. Fully tested and NEBS compliant, OptoConnect custom fibre optic enclosures handle the most complex routing schemes to greatly reduce intra-system cabling footprints and increase system reliability.
