Development kit enables Zigbee, 802.15.4 connectivity
A development plat form which enables designers to easily add Zigbee or 802.15.4 connectivity to electronics designs has been launched by Farnell element14 and NXP. The Freedom Development Platform for Kinetis KW2x MCUs contains two boards, enabling point-to-point out of the box connectivity. It has a diverse reference design with all the necessary I/O connections for use as a self-contained board or for connection to an external application.
PC/104 SBC module features low TDP from 6 to 10W
ARBOR Technology announces the release of Arbor Em104-i230F PC/104 SBC Module. The SBC module is based on the Intel Atom processors E3800 family (formerly codenamed 'Bay Trail'). The PC/104 (96x90mm) SBC Module offers a compelling entry price for this form factor and the Intel Atom processors E3800 family features a low thermal design power (TDP) from 6 to 10W.
Wireless connectivity kit offers hands-on design help
The Wireless Connectivity Kit from Digi International is now in stock at Mouser Electronics. The kit offers designers a hands-on way to learn how to use XBee radio frequency (RF) modules for device connectivity and sensor networking. The new connectivity kit offers beginners and experienced designers and engineers alike the opportunity to easily incorporate wireless communications into their designs.
Raspberry Pi3 boasts 64-bit quad core processor
Boasting a 64-bit processor as well as built-in WiFi and Bluetooth connections, the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B has been launched by the two global distributors, element14 and RS Components. With the extra power and features Raspberry Pi will push further into industrial, IoT and domestic applications while retaining its attraction for school and college students.
Stontronics manufactures dedicated power supply for Raspberry Pi 3
Stontronics has announced availability of the only official power supply for the Raspberry Pi 3 credit-card-sized single-board computer from the Raspberry Pi Foundation. The power supply is available in two colours: white (T5875DV) and black (T5989DV-RS) and has been specifically designed for the launch of the third-generation Raspberry Pi board, as it requires more power – approximately 2.5A – to support the Broadcom BCM2837 processo...
Pre-Configured IDF provides 'highest cooling capacity in the industry'
Panduit at Cisco Live, Messe Berlin showed its recently-released Pre-Configured Industrial Distribution Frame (IDF) which has been specifically engineered to deploy and protect rack mount Ethernet switches in industrial applications. The innovative design enables consistent equipment deployment with 25% faster installation times than a traditional IDF that is not pre-configured.
Baseboard management controller solution is cost-effective
To satisfy the need for hardware management on server baseboards across a wide range of computer platforms from embedded to scaled out server markets, Pentair has developed the Schroff Pigeon Point BMR-AST-BMC solution, which enables a server baseboard developer to quickly and cost-effectively add advanced hardware management features, including 'out-of-band' management access to the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) of the server even when t...
Wireless sensor board opens door to environmental data
The MEAS Wireless sensor development board from TE Connectivity is now being shipped by distributor Mouser Electronics. The board reports relative humidity, temperature and barometric pressure through Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, providing environmental data for evaluating weather stations, HVAC systems, and other industrial applications.
Raspberry Pi-based starter kits target IoT designs
Two Internet of Things (IoT) starter kits that tap into technologies from EnOcean and IBM have been announced by Farnell element14 at Embedded World in Nuremberg. Both Entrepreneur and Enterprise editions feature micro-computer boards from Farnell element14 and energy harvesting wireless sensors from EnOcean, and provide seamless integration to IBM’s Watson IoT Platform.
