ARM-based starter kits provide development shortcut
With its new ARM-based Starter Kits powered by NXP and TI processors, Advantech says it is providing a shortcut for ARM platform evaluation and development. The new starter kits are available at distributor Rutronik as of now. The kit includes key elements of a development environment including main boards with CPU cables, adapter cards, LCD panel and power adapter.
Graphics-rich Mini-ITX SoC suits use in restricted spaces
Featuring a very low profile, less than 18mm dependent on choice of heatsink, the tKINO-BW SoC from BVM Ltd is a thin Mini-ITX (170x170mm) format motherboard. The board is graphics intensive, supporting up to three independent displays: HDMI 4k up to 3840x2160 pixels; 18/24-bit dual channel LVDS up to 1920x1200 and VGA up to 1920x1200.
Kontron embeds full security protection in COMs & boards
Announcing the company's new embedded hardware security solution product line, Kontron has revealed that it is the first embedded computing supplier to offer full security protection embedded in its COM and motherboard offerings. The first product in its Security Solution line is the Kontron Approtect, a hardware and software solution that includes an embedded hardware security module and a software framework that provides full protection feature...
Evaluation kit speeds SiC power converter prototyping
The latest evaluation kit from Wolfspeed is now available from Richardson RFPD. The CRD-5FF0912P includes two of Wolfspeed’s 900V third-generation SiC MOSFETs (the 3M0120090J) in surface mount 7L-D2PAK packages. The board allows easy evaluation of the MOSFET switching waveforms, gate drive circuit performance and protection implementation on a PCB.
FMC carriers optimise throughput and minimise latency
Designed for bringing COTS PCIe systems up to date with the latest FPGAs, or for integrating high-end FMCs, VadaTech has launched three FMC carriers in the PCI Express form factor. The PCI516, PCI592 and PCI595 cards provide direct connections to neighbouring cards, avoiding the need to stage data through the host processor, so optimising throughput and minimising latency for high-performance applications.
Micro-ATX motherboard offers multiple expansion options
Advantech has introduced an industrial-grade Micro-ATX motherboard based on the Intel Q170/C236/H110 chipset supporting the latest 6th gen Intel Core I /Pentium/Celeron and E3 Xeon processors. Combining high computing and graphic performance with rigorous reliability (ESD level 4 protection) and multiple expansion options, the AIMB-585 is suited for applications such as medical equipment, surveillance, gaming machines and workstations.
UVC camera board delivers low light performance
The high-performance See3CAM CU30 USB Video Class (UVC) Camera with S-mount (M12 mount) lens holder from e-con Systems is available at L2Tek. Based on the AR0330 CMOS Image Sensor from OnSemi, the See3CAM CU30 is a two-board solution containing the camera sensor board and USB 3.0 UVC controller board.
Specialised processor maximises efficiency and performance balance
The N60E-O compact server for warm cloud storage applications powered by Intel Xeon-D processors which offer scalable performance on a tiny form factor has been announced by Giada.
Compact desktop appliance is driven by Intel Bay-Trail
The increasing deployment of virtual CPE (Customer Premise Equipments) has driven the demand of desktop fanless platforms for branch office and retail environments. To provide hardware solutions for enterprises, Lanner launches its NCA-1011, an Intel Bay-Trail driven compact desktop appliance to expand its vCPE and edge security product lineup.
All on board for programming practice
The Circuit Playground from Adafruit is an all-in-one board which includes built-in sensors and LEDs. It offers an easy platform to practice programming on real hardware without the need to solder components in place. It is in stock at Mouser Electronics. The board is a round electronics platform with 14 alligator-clip pads for easy access to power and inputs and outputs (I/O).
