ABBYY initiative for trustworthy artificial intelligence
ABBYY has launched a global initiative to promote the development of trustworthy artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
AI predicts wheat supply is 12% down in 2020
Last Autumn parts of the UK saw twice the average seasonal rainfall. This was followed by some of the worst winter floods in memory. A poll by Farmer’s Weekly asked farmers if 2019 was, weather-wise, the worst ever: 81% said it was.
RZ/V microprocessors with vision-optimised AI accelerator
Renesas Electronics has introduced the RZ/V series of microprocessors (MPUs), which features DRP-AI (Dynamically Reconfigurable Processor), Renesas’ exclusive vision-optimised AI accelerator. The first product in the series, the RZ/V2M, is designed to deliver a combination of real time AI inference and power efficiency in embedded devices.
AI project set to shorten storm power cuts
An artificial intelligence system designed to predict the impact of a storm on the electricity network in order to shorten storm power cuts is to be trialled across the East and South East starting this winter. UK Power Networks’ ‘Storm Resilience’ project will use a machine learning algorithm to help control room staff decide where to send engineers, so they are ready to respond as storms hit.
Razor powers AI-driven technology for Versus Arthritis
Razor has been selected by Versus Arthritis as a strategic partner to deliver new and innovative AI technologies which will improve how medical research, helping millions of people, is managed and communicated.
Predictive AI could save farmers millions
A UK Gov & Microsoft backed Agri-tech Centre has developed AI that predicts crops’ shipment window three times earlier than previously possible. The first proof-of-concept promises to save one farming business more than £6m p/a, equivalent to 15% increase in gross profit.
Lattice and Etron deliver low power reference design for Edge AI
Lattice Semiconductor and Etron, the memory IC and SoC innovator, have announced a memory controller reference design for Etron’s low pin-count RPC DRAM to enable low power Edge AI and video processing in applications requiring a compact form factor, including industrial cameras, drones, AR/VR systems, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Lattice sensAI 3.0 solutions stack doubles performance
Lattice Semiconductor has launched the latest version of its complete solutions stack for on-device AI processing at the Edge, Lattice sensAI 3.0. The latest version of the stack includes support for the CrossLink-NX family of FPGAs for low power smart vision applications and features customised Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) IP, a flexible accelerator IP that simplifies implementation of common CNN networks and is optimised to further l...
World Bee Day: SAS cracks enigma code for bees
As part of its commitment to using data and analytics to solve the world’s most pressing problems, SAS’ recent work includes helping to save the world’s No. 1 food crop pollinator - the honey bee. With the number of bee colonies drastically declining around the world, in honour of World Bee Day, SAS is using technology such as IoT, machine learning and visual analytics to help maintain and support healthy bee populatio...
AI helps clear up COVID-19 data
As governors begin to make decisions about reopening the economy, Americans are left to wonder whether they should follow their state government’s lead – or make their own decisions about when to return to normal during this overload of COVID-19 data, but AI can help.
