Lab Quality, Handheld RF Power Meter
Keithley Instruments has announced the release of the Model 3500 Portable RF Power Meter, the first lab-quality, handheld RF power meter on the market. Designed to make RF power measurements in both field and R&D lab environments, the compact Model 3500 provides the accuracy of a benchtop RF power meter with the convenience of a portable instrument at half the cost of competing products.
3-phase power quality analysers offer high accuracy
Carlo Gavazzi has introduced a range of three-phase power quality analysers offering the highest class of accuracy, available as either standalone instruments - model WM5 96 - with a backlit liquid crystal display, or the PQT H transducer version. These new utility-grade analysers are powered by ARM RISC processors, which significantly speeds up signal processing and data communication compared with existing instruments.
Core controllers improve transient response and accuracy
The ISL6260C, ISL6261A and ISL6262A core controllers from Intersil are designed to control Intel’s next-generation (Core Duo and Core 2 Duo) Santa Rosa mobile platform. The new family of devices offers improved accuracy in power dissipation reporting and industry-leading transient response and efficiency, enabled by Intersil’s patented R3 (Robust Ripple Regulator) Technology.
Miniature DAB / FM radio module from Frontier
Frontier Silicon has announced the Naples FS2011, said to be the industry’s first miniature, highly advanced and integrated standalone dual-band DAB / FM radio module for handheld battery powered products. The compact, low-cost, low-power, high performance unit is available now and is also incorporated in two new portable DAB/FM radios from leading manufacturers Bush and Ministry of Sound.
Low-cost embedded System On Module
Strategic Test has extended its range of PXA270 SOMs with the release of the low-cost TRITON-270. Priced at 112 Euros, the module includes a 312 MHz PXA270 processor, 32 MB SDRAM, 32 MB NOR Flash and a 200-pin SODIMM connector.
ST's 3-Axis Accelerometers feature small form factor and low power consumption
STMicroelectronics has introduced the first two devices in its new family of low-g linear accelerometers, distinguished by small form factor and low power consumption. The feature-rich LIS302 sensors meet the growing demand for smart functionality, such as hard-disk drive protection and motion-controlled operation, in today ’s mobile phones, digital audio players, and laptops.
Extruded aluminium enclosures with integral heat sink
Following the acquisition of the West Hyde small enclosures business when it ceased trading, Hammond Electronics has re-introduced the seven-strong Sink Box range of extruded aluminium cases, designed for the horizontal mounting of PCBs or chassis. The four larger sizes are designed for the direct horizontal housing of 3U Eurocards, either 160, 220 or 280mm deep.
Reference Design Kit for Energy-Efficient Charger/Adapter
Power Integrations has introduced a reference design kit for an energy-efficient charger/adapter based on its LinkSwitch-LP family of integrated circuits with EcoSmart technology. The new reference design kit (RDK-83) reduces no-load power consumption by 79 percent compared to existing linear solutions, and features a constant-voltage (CV) charger circuit capable of withstanding 10 kV common-mode / 2 kV differential-mode surges.
Low-profile illuminated pushbutton switches
Arrow is now offering NKK Nikkai’s UB2 series of low-profile, illuminated pushbutton switches, with enhanced features and expanded aesthetic and functional options. These provide engineers with an exceptional choice to replace standard, outdated, split-legend caps.
Entry level Linux development platform for XScale CPU
Arcom has released a new entry level embedded Linux Development Kit to support its ultra low power PXA255 XScale based single board computers. The 400MHz VIPER and 200MHz VIPER-Lite are small footprint SBCs powered by the PXA255 ARM compatible RISC processor.
