ST Introduces Voltage-Agnostic MEMS-Based Motion Sensor for Mobile Phones and Other Portable Devices
STMicroelectronics has expanded its portfolio of ultra-compact, high-performance MEMS (Micro Electro-Mechanical System) sensors with a 3-axis accelerometer with absolute analog output. Able to operate with any supply voltage in the range of 2.16V to 3.6V and extremely stable over temperature and time, ST’s LIS352AX is a perfect fit for motion-sensing applications in space- and cost-constrained battery-operated devices.
Panel PC range from Datasound Laboratories
Designed to handle a multitude of applications, including industrial automation, kiosks and process control, the new VDX-LCD range of open frame panel pc’s from Datasound Laboratories provide ultra low power processing with a choice of display sizes.
Current Sense Resistors from Ohmite
Using metal resistive elements made from Nickel-Chromium or Cupron (Manganin-Copper) the new MCS Series of SMD flip chip resistors from Ohmite have a very low TCR of <50ppm/°C over the range of current sense values which are popular in portable, battery operated equipment and power supplies.
HARTING MicroTCA connector passes ‘rugged’ test
The HARTING MicroTCA connector has successfully passed the latest tests established by the PICMG Group for the ‘Rugged MicroTCA’ PICMG specification. The HARTING con:card+ connector for MicroTCA backplanes and the plug connector for AdvancedMC modules passed the vibration sine and shock test of the MTCA.1 ‘Rugged Air Cooled’ specification without contact interruptions.
Tyco's field-installable IP67 Industrial Ethernet connectors
A new IP67-Rated ODVA-Compliant connector from Tyco Electronics uses a field-installable “common core” connector. With the common core, a single modular connector design can be used across a range of connector configurations to achieve IP20 to IP65/67 sealing. The common core plugs use insulation displacement contact to allow tool-less fast, reliable field termination of either solid or stranded conductors.
IP68 stepper motors from Astrosyn for harsh conditions
A range of stepper motors with IP68 protection ratings has been introduced by Astrosyn International Technology. Intended for operation in harsh, wet environments, the F87 series have been tested underwater to a pressure of 1 bar - corresponding to a water depth of 10 m.
Hitachi's Power Devices Division exhibiting new IGBT technology at PCIM 2009
Hitachi Europe Ltd, Power Devices Division (PDD) will exhibit its leading-edge IGBT technology and the latest power semiconductors modules at PCIM 2009 which is being held from May 12th to May 14th 2009 at the Exhibition Centre Nuremburg, Germany.
Taiyo Yuden DC-AC Inverter drives LCD Panels
TAIYO YUDEN has announced the LS6Q-1612A-RH, a compact, low-profile DC/AC inverter for driving cold-cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL) in Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) back-lighting applications. Designed specifically for use with 12-17in industrial-grade LCD panels, the LS6Q-1612A-RH provides dual LCD panel capability. It features brightness / backlight on-off control and a 5V (typ.) alarm output (if the inverter detects a CCFL open condition of th...
Atmel Brings ARM Processor-based Custom SoCs to 10K-unit Apps with No License Fees
Atmel has announced its CAP7L customizable microcontroller that allows fabless semiconductor companies to implement ARM7 processor-based systems-on-chip (SoCs) with a turn-around period as low as 12 weeks, a nominal NRE charge of only $75,000, and unit costs as low as $5, without requiring a separate licence from ARM.
Reliable spring probe pins said to reduce component wear
The latest in the range of high-end test contactors, PCBs and burn-in sockets offered by Yamaichi Electronics is now individual spring contact pins, so-called spring probe pins. Besides semiconductor and sensor testing, they can also be used in other areas, such as medical/space, application testing, failure analysis, programming, and burn-in.
