STMicroelectronics has expanded its portfolio of ultra-compact, high-performance MEMS (Micro Electro-Mechanical System) sensors with a 3-axis accelerometer with absolute analog output. Able to operate with any supply voltage in the range of 2.16V to 3.6V and extremely stable over temperature and time, ST’s LIS352AX is a perfect fit for motion-sensing applications in space- and cost-constrained battery-operated devices.

A new IP67-Rated ODVA-Compliant connector from Tyco Electronics uses a field-installable “common core” connector. With the common core, a single modular connector design can be used across a range of connector configurations to achieve IP20 to IP65/67 sealing. Atmel has announced its CAP7L customizable microcontroller that allows fabless semiconductor companies to implement ARM7 processor-based systems-on-chip (SoCs) with a turn-around period as low as 12 weeks, a nominal NRE charge of only $75,000, and unit costs as low as $5, without requiring a separate licence from ARM.
