Vicor has announced four additional DC/DC converters deployed in the rugged, chassis-mountable versions of its DCM isolated, regulated DC/DC converter family. This extends the family with two 28V nominal products (a 180W device with 5V output and a 320W device with 15V output) and two 270V nominal products (two 500W devices with 12V and 28V outputs) in VIA packages.

The DCM family is commonly used in industrial and process control markets, distributed power, ATE, communications, defence/aerospace, semiconductor manufacturing equipment and transportation. According to Vicor, the DCM family provides the highest densities in a smaller footprint than competitors.

The DCM devices in VIA packages are isolated, regulated DC/DC converters, operating from an unregulated, wide range input to generate an isolated and regulated output. With high frequency zero-voltage switching topology, the DCM converters consistently deliver high efficiency across the input line range. The family provides tight output voltage regulation and offers a secondary-referenced control interface for trim, enable and remote sense operation. DCM converters and downstream DC/DC products support efficient power distribution, providing superior power system performance and connectivity from a variety of unregulated power sources to the PoL.
