Claimed to deliver the best combination of availability, energy efficiency, overall power performance and lowest total cost of ownership in its class, the PowerWAVE 6000 double conversion UPS system has been introduced by Uninterruptible Power Supplies.

The UPSs are available with capacities from 60 to 500W and can 10 units be parallelled up to 5W. Incorporating redundant critical circuits to eliminate all single points of failure, this enhances system reliability and load availability. The PowerWAVE 6000 has integrated enclosures that can accommodate batteries for 60, 80 and 100kW via easy front access, allowing a battery installation that suits requirements. Battery life cycles can be extended by the inbuilt ripple-free and temperature controlled chargers. For larger 120 to 500kW units, matching external battery enclosures can be added to ensure smallest system footprint and easy usability.

A transformerless design and energy saving inverter switching technology enables up to 96% efficiency at both partial and fully rated loads to extend the lives of its batteries and components, reducing the UPS’s total cost of ownership and operating costs. This high efficiency has enabled the PowerWAVE 6000 to be listed on the Carbon Trust’s Energy Technology List for Enhanced Capital Allowances, which offers tax relief incentives to promote the use of highly energy efficient and saving machinery.

Total input harmonic distortion of 3.5% at 100% load eliminates the need for over-sized generators, cabling and ancillary equipment, avoiding extra heating of input transformers and extending the lifetime of all input components.

Powering all types of electrical loads from a footprint of 0.3-1.41m2 saves valuable space, which is vital for data centres to help maximise revenue-earning floor space.
