Symmetric boost capacitors are for three-phase supplies
Two FlowBoost4w modules have been released by Vincotech. They are designed for online UPS and other three-phase, three level active PFC applications, where high conversion efficiency and switching frequencies are required.
Power rating is 100 to 200kVA and switching frequencies are 8.0 to 20kHz.
The modules can reduce the size and cost of PFC chokes, says the company. Onboard capacitors prevent turn-of voltage overshooting. There is also an optional snubber diode and low inductive interface to support switching loss regeneration. The interface also enables a low inductive connection with a normal PCB, in which case the high power connection does not need to be low inductive.
The integrated NTC sensor provides a temperature signal to protect the module.
There are 400 and 600A versions available, with and without snubber diodes. The company’s pre-applied, high performance thermal interface materials is optionally available.
The modules are in production now.
