MINMAX Technology, a manufacturer of DC/DC converters and AC/DC power supplies for industrial, railway, renewable energy and medical applications, has released two new series of rugged, encapsulated DC/DC power modules supporting loads of up to 6W or 10W and equipped for chassis or DIN rail mounting.

Suitable for use on a 24V or 48V power bus, the 6W MJWI06C and 10W MKWI10C converter modules provide a stand-alone power supply solution which does not need to be integrated into a circuit board design in industrial or communications equipment. They offer a way to supply a regulated voltage to circuits in server racks, data cabinets, and outdoor telecoms equipment such as base transmitter stations.

The rugged modules handle harsh operating conditions, including an ambient temperature range of -40 to +92.5°C, and provide I/O isolation of 3kV DC.

“The launch of the MJWI06C and MKWI10C fills a gap in the market for chassis or DIN rail-mount modules which are suitable for low-power applications. Customers can now meet the requirement for regulated power outputs of <10W without the need to design and assemble a board-mount power supply,” said Achun Tsai, Global Sales Manager of MINMAX.

Both series of modules are available in versions with a fixed output voltage of 5, 5.1, 12, 15, 24, 48V, ±12V, ±15V or ±24V DC. They operate from a 4:1 input-voltage range of nine to 36V or 18 to 75V DC. Typical efficiency of the new modules when supplying the maximum load is up to 86%.

A stable feedback loop produces excellent performance with no oscillation in no-load and light-load conditions. The modules have no minimum load requirement.

Like other MINMAX modules, the MJWI06C and MKWI10C make it easy for customers to comply with electro-magnetic compatibility (EMC) regulations. For EMI emissions, they are approved to EN 55032 Class A and FCC Level A. For electromagnetic immunity, they are approved to EN 61000-4-2, -3, -4, -5, -6 and -8.

System protection features include under-voltage, overload and short-circuit protection. The modules are validated for worldwide safety compliance under the Certification Bodies (CB) scheme.
