TDK Corporation announces the introduction of the TDK-Lambda RFE1600 series of front end power supplies – 1.6kW 1U high units for stand alone and distributed power architecture (DPA) applications requiring reliable 12V, 24V, 32V and 48V bulk power in the communications, test and industrial markets.
Up to 20% output voltage adjustment is possible enabling the RFE1600 to be used in a variety of customer specific applications including battery charging.

Operating from a universal input of 85 to 265VAC, the RFE1600 maintains over 90% efficiency, thus minimising heat dissipation. The RFE1600-12, -24, -32 and -48 models can be used individually or up to 10 units can be connected in parallel to form an N+1 redundant power system with internal ORing MOSFETs and single wire current share.

Each power supply has 2 temperature-controlled internal cooling fans for longer life and can operate in temperatures ranging from -10 to +70°C. With overall dimensions of 85 x 41 x 320mm (3.35 x 1.61 x 12.6in) the TDK-Lambda RFE1600 power supply achieves a power density of 24W/in3.

Overvoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature protection are standard features, and for system monitoring there are opto-isolated signals for DC Good, AC Fail and overtemperature warning with a rear panel LED indicator for AC OK (green) and DC OK/Fail (green/red). Remote on/off control is also standard, as is remote sense and an auxiliary 12V 0.5A output. An I2C PMBus compatible interface is available as an option for all models.

As well as being EN55022 and FCC compliant (achieving class B conducted and class A radiated emissions), the RFE1600 series meets UL/EN 60950-1 safety approvals and carries the CE mark. Harmonic correction meets the EN61000-3-2 standard and immunity meets the IEC61000-4-2, -3, -4, -5, -6, -8 and -11 standard, and the TDK-Lambda RFE1600 power supplies are backed by a 3-year warranty.
