Reference design covers variety of topologies

Availability and full design support capabilities for a new reference design from RECOM Power (RECOM) have been announced by distributor Richardson RFPD. The R-REF01-HB reference design consists of a half-bridge suitable for voltages up to 1kV and a fully-isolated driver stage with isolated power supplies for the low-side and the high-side switching transistors.

It is suitable for single-gate drive supply voltages as low as +4 V and dual-gate drive supply voltages as high as +20 V / -5 V (30 V max), with no maximum duty cycle limitations. 

The reference design is fitted with an Si8273 gate driver but can be used with any pin-compatible gate driver with a PWM input or for gate driver ICs with reinforced isolation. 

It can easily be configured for a variety of topologies, including LLC half-bridge, asymmetric duty cycle half-bridge (forward and flyback), active clamp half-bridge (forward and flyback), full-bridge, phase-shifted full-bridge, 3-phase B6 bridge, NPC B6 bridge (additional driving circuit for NPC required), double pulse test, synchronous boost converter, and synchronous buck converter. 

Additional key features of the R-REF01-HB include TTL-compatible signal input, single 15 V to 42 V supply, shoot-through protection.

It is optimised for very high switching speed and offers 2.5 kV continuous input-to-output isolation.
