Powersolve will demonstrate its unique power supply capability at National Electronics Week 2012 – Hall 2 NEC Birmingham April 18/19. Powersolve was established 25 years ago to provide a very wide range of standard products to the highest quality and at the most competitive prices.
Powersolve’s product range today consists of AC-DC converters from 5W up to 30kW, DC-DC converters from 1W up to 22kW, DC-AC Inverters, external power Adaptors, high density base plate cooled power modules, 19in rack mounting telecom rectifiers, medically approved power supplies, DIN Rail mounting industrial power supplies, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), battery chargers, sealed lead acid and Lithium Polymer batteries and much more.
Some examples of products that visitors can expect to see at NEW 2012 include:

Very Thin Lithium Polymer Batteries
Powersolve continues to bring innovative power products to the marketplace with the introduction of Lithium Polymer thin cells that can be manufactured down to just 0.4mm thick. The CP Series consists of Lithium Polymer thin cells which are primary laminated aluminium thin foil batteries with a nominal 3VDC output.
Very light in weight, the new CP Series cells are available in a wide range of standard sizes from 16mAh up to 3000mAh. Also, according to Powersolve’s Managing Director Peter Clark, the technology allows a customer to request a cell built to a size that suits a specific application.

AC/DC Power Sources – 800W from a 1U package
The PAE800 series are single output units designed to provide up to 800W from a low profile 1U high metal case. There are seven models in the PAE800 series all of which feature a 90-264VAC input voltage range with active PFC and forced active current sharing for parallel operation.
Models in the PAE800 series offer single outputs, programmable between 0% and 105%, of 12V, 15V, 24V, 30V, 36V, 48V and 60VDC. Output current is also programmable between 0% and 105%. Efficiency levels are high at 93%.
A +5V, 0.5A standby output is also provided. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60ºC.
The new units offer protection against overload, over voltage, over temperature and short circuit while fault conditions are displayed using intelligent LEDs. Remote on/off, remote sense and power good signals ease system integration.
PAE800 units have a built-in I²C serial data bus and an RS232 function is available as an option. The PAE800 power supplies measure 249x127x41mm have full safety approvals and EMC compliance to EN55022”B”. (109)

Desk-Top Supplies meet CEC Level V
The price competitive PSGE40-65 Series of 40 to 65W desk top power supplies meet the latest CEC Level V requirements for Energy Saving with no load standby power consumption of <0.3mA.
These compact desk top power supplies feature universal AC input of 90-264 VAC and DC output voltages of 12V, 15V, 16V, 18V & 24V. Output power ratings are 40, 60 and 65 W.

Efficiency is >87% minimum. All models feature LED power on indicator and over current and over voltage protection. Safety approvals include UL/cUL60950, TUV/GS(EN60950), CB & CCC. EMI/EMC conforms to CISPR22’B’, FCC Part 15’B’ & EN55022’B’ and all models are Limited Power Source complying with IEC60950-1 sect 2.5.

UPS can provide between 1 and 10kVA
Powersolve’s eight model PKR Series will satisfy a wide range of IT and Telecoms applications although Powersolve says PKR units can also be used in most back-up situations where constant and reliable power is required for short periods in the event of mains supply failure.
The new power supplies accept a wide input voltage range with models able to work with either 115VAC or 230VAC at 50/60Hz. Input power factor is high at >0.98. Output voltage is either 110/120VAC or 220/230VAC ±2% and battery hold-up times depend on the model selected. PKR Series units are available to provide between 1kVA and 10kVA. Battery recharge time is very quick – 90% charge in less than three hours for the smaller units and less than four hours for the 6 and 10kVA models.

An automatic bypass is incorporated into PKR units, which switches over to the incoming mains in the event of an inverter failure. Powersolve uses Yuasa high capacity NPW45-12 5 year life batteries as standard with 10 year life versions available as an option.

PKR Series UPS units use an online double conversion design normally found in more expensive units. The main advantage of an online UPS is the unit’s ability to provide an electrical “firewall” between the mains and the equipment it protects. In effect, it provides full protection against all manner of power quality issues as well as mains failure, with zero transfer time when switching to battery back up.

Although most users will specify the PKR supplies for 19in rack mount, they can also be used as stand alone tower units. A LED display indicates the unit’s status while and LCD display shows volts, frequency etc. Alarms alert users to UPS failure, low battery voltage and the presence of an abnormal mains supply while PKR Series units are protected against overload, over temperature and short circuit. Operating temperature range is 0 to 40ºC.

An intelligent RS232 communications port allows for remote management via UPS power management software or UPSilon 2000 and users also have the option of control using an external SNMP, USB or dry contact connection. Output is via IEC sockets or screw terminals depending on power rating.
