Designed for high speed and high dynamic range transimpedance amplifier (TIA) and buffer applications, the LTC6268 and LTC6269 FET-input single and dual op amps have been released by Linear Technology. Resolving input currents from several femtoamps to amps, the devices utilise 3fA bias current at 25°C and 4pA max over the -40°C to 125°C temperature range.

To enable high dynamic range circuits, the devices feature a wide band voltage noise of 4.3nV/√Hz and current noise of 5.5fA/√Hz. Featuring 500MHz gain bandwidth product, sub-pF input capacitance and -100dB harmonic distortion at 1MHz, the LTC6268 is designed to be fast and accurate. Suitable applications include photodiode and photomultiplier (PMT) circuits and other high impedance sensor applications. The LTC6268/9 can also be used to drive ADCs.

Circuit and layout techniques that maximise TIA performance are featured in the attached LTC6268 data sheet. Example circuits range from 20kΩ transimpedance gain at 65MHz bandwidth, to 499kΩ transimpedance gain at 11.2MHz bandwidth. To protect against board leakage currents, the LTC6268 is offered with an 8-lead SOIC with guard pins. While the LTC6268  is available in a 6-lead SOT-23 package, the LTC6269 is available in 3x3mm DFN-10 and MSOP-8 packages.

Operating over the industrial -40 to +85°C and -40 to +125°C temperature ranges, the LTC6268 and LTC6269 are unity-gain stable. The devices are sold in 1000-piece quantities and priced from $2.90 each.
