The compact, metal-cased NCS12 series' 12 Watt DC-DC converters were launched by Murata Power Solutions today. These single and dual output isolated converters are available in 9 – 36 VDC or 18 – 75 VDC input voltage models, and are accommodated by a 4:1 wide input voltage range. Single output models cater for the popular nominal output voltages from 3.3 to 15 VDC. Duals are available with either +/- 5, +/- 12 or +/- 15 VDC outputs.

One feature of the NCS12 is that the undervoltage lockout ensures that the converter only operates with a valid input voltage. Load regulation is usually within the range of 0.05 to 1% and is model dependent. Line regulation is typically 0.1% and the converter has a fast start-up time of 9 ms.

Various other protection and safety features of the NCS12 include current fold back in overload conditions and thermal shutdown should the case temperature exceed 120 degrees C. The standard operating temperature range is from -40 to +85 degrees C.

Measurements of just 20 x 32 x 10.75 mm the NCS12 converter uses an industry standard pin-out that is also compatible with earlier DC/DC converter devices available from Murata Power Solutions.

Certification to the industry safety standard IEC/UL60950 for commercial and IT equipment is pending.
