A series of low cost medical grade AC/DC desktop power adapters has been released by TRUMPower. The TMP92 series includes both a class I and class II unit. While the class I is designed with an IEC 320/C6 AC inlet with a ground pin, the class II unit is designed with an IEC 320/C8 AC inlet without a ground pin.

Operating at 90-264V and 47-63Hz, the power adapters are offered with a 5.5x2.1x11mm right angle barrel plug output connector. With a continuous output power of 90W, the series provides standard single output voltages of 12, 18, 19 or 24V. On request, non-standard output voltages and other connector options are available.

The power adapters feature an efficiency which is higher than 88%, complying with CEC and Energy Star efficiency level V requirements. 4,000 VAC from input to output and 1,500 VAC from input to ground can be withstood by the unit. While the class I models have a low earth leakage current of 160µA maximum at 264VAC/63Hz, all models can operate at an ambient temperature range of 0 to +60°C. Between 0 to +40°C, no derating is required. A touch current of 40μA max. at 264VAC, 63Hz is provided by both class I and class II models. The MTBF is higher than 100,000 hours at full load and 25°C ambient per MIL-HDBK-217F. Overvoltage, overload, and short-circuit protection is also offered with the adapters. The adapters, which measure 5.51x2.80x0.87", are packaged in a black-coloured plastic enclosure.

The TMP92 series of power adapters comply with EN 60601-1-2 EMI and immunity standards including EN 55011/FCC/VCCI class B (conducted and radiated emissions), EN 61000-3-2, EN 61000-3-3, EN 61000-4-2, EN 61000-4-3, EN 61000-4-4, EN 61000-4-5, EN 61000-4-6, EN 61000-4-8, and EN 61000-4-11. The power adapters are also approved by UL and TUV to the latest 3rd edition medical standards, including IEC/EN 60601-1:2008, ANSI/AAMI ES 60601-1: 2005 and CSA-C22.2 No. 60601-1:08.
