Magna-Power Electronics, a world leader in high-power programmable dc power supplies, continues its commitment to power density with the release of the XR Series II. The new rack-mount series introduces 8 kW models at just 2U (3.25”) high, further extending the series lead as the highest power programmable dc supply available in a 2U package size. In addition, the company has incorporated variable speed, load dependent fans as a standard feature on the 6 kW and 8 kW models and low speed fans on the 2 kW and 4 kW models.
XR Series II, with 70 models available up to 1000 Vdc and 375 Adc, ranging from 2 kW to 8 kW, follows up on the immense success of the original XR Series introduced in 2009. The series employs Magna-Power Electronics’ signature current-fed power processing to deliver superior control and enhanced system protection, with a greater tolerance to abusive loads.
The XR Series II satisfies requirements for a wide range of applications, such as: automated test equipment (ATE), photovoltaic emulation, motor drive testing, semiconductor burn-in, battery charging, among a variety of research and development activities. All units come standard with 37-pin isolated 0-10 Vdc I/O for external control, RS-232, and IVI drivers for integration into nearly any programming environment, including NI LabView and LabWindows. In addition, a variety of additional programming interfaces are available, such as: LXI Ethernet, USB, and IEEE 488.2 GPIB. A wide range of three-phase input voltages are all available as standard, from 208 Vac through 480 Vac, with single-phase 208/240 Vac available as option for the 2 kW models.
