Low-noise, encapsulated medical power supply have short circuit protection

Low noise, encapsulated medical power supplies from Polytron Devices are available from Gresham Power Electronics. The defence and commercial power conversion specialist has introduced the P3/P5/MHIA medical AC/DC linear power supply series which is UL 60601-1 Third Edition-recognised.

The medical AC/DC converters comply to two means of patient protection (2MOPP) and are suitable for applications including surgical equipment, patient monitoring, imaging, laboratory and diagnostics equipment.

The single, dual and triple output power supplies provide 4000V AC reinforced insulation and are available with either a PC mount or chassis mount footprint with screw terminal connections.

The medical AC/DC linear series delivers a low output noise of 1.0mV rms while providing a 2μA patient leakage current and a regulation line and load of 0.02 to 0.2%. There is also short circuit protection, and the modules have CE certification and optional international input voltages, including dual and switchable.

Output voltages are available over the 5.0 to 250V DC range for single outputs, ±5.0 to ±124V DC range for dual outputs and 5.0 ±12 and 5.0 ±15V DC for triple output units.

Encapsulated power supplies offer a safe and rugged solution to medical systems which may be operated in many different environments, says the company, which now offers industrial, medical, CompactPCI, rail and transportation, test and laboratory power solutions from manufacturers including Polytron Devices, EOS Power, Vox Power, Magna-Power, Advice Electronics and Digital Power. The portfolio includes open frame power supplies, modular configurable and encapsulated power supplies, programmable power supplies and electronic loads and DC/DC converters.

Gresham designs and manufactures defence power systems and can provide modified standard or full custom power supply designs if required. It can also supply defence power products for land-based or vehicle applications as well as products for OEM and external power supplies for multi-media applications, medical, industrial, defence, communications and broadcast systems and LED lighting. Hot-swap power shelves and products for telecomms as well as static frequency converters, DC UPS and distributed power systems.
