Intersil's ISL8088 dual synchronous buck provides exceptionally high power conversion efficiency and low quiescent current in an ultra-small package. The ISL8088 is an 800mA/channel dual step-down regulator with integrated power MOSFETs. The 2.7V to 5.5V input voltage range and 35microA quiescent current make the ISL8088 ideal for battery powered and other Green Power applications. The selectable operation between forced PWM mode and automatic PWM/PFM mode maximizes battery life.
Featuring a switching frequency as high as 2.25MHz, along with internal digital soft-start and internal compensation, the ISL8088 can reduce total component count, cost and overall size for a wide range of applications. External synchronization capability up to 4MHz reduces beat frequencies in multiple IC systems. Independent Enable and PowerGood signals for both channels provide inherent sequencing capability in a multi-chip system. Protection features include peak current limiting, short circuit protection and thermal shutdown for reliable operation under adverse conditions.

The ISL8088 is designed for a wide range of products including digital cameras, personal media players, printers, copiers, storage drives, LCD-TVs, set-top boxes, graphics cards and automotive applications. In addition, it can be used in portable medical instrumentation and industrial process control systems, providing the benefits of low-cost, flexible operation, low-power and ultra-small footprint.

The ISL8088 is available now in compact, space-saving 10-lead DFN packages, with prices starting at $2.63 each in 1,000-piece units.
