The introduction of the GQA120 series of industrial grade DC/DC converters has been announced by TDK Corporation. Rated at 120W output power, the units are available in four robust quarter‑brick package styles designed for use in a wide variety of applications and environments. These include automated guided vehicles, portable electronics, ruggedised communication equipment, track-side rail and marine navigation systems.

The GQA120 is available in six standard output voltages, 5, 12, 15, 24, 28 and 48V, adjustable up to ±10% via the trim function to accommodate non-standard voltages.

The units can operate over a wide 9V to 36Vdc input voltage (18-36Vdc for the 48V model), withstanding a 50Vdc surge for up to one second. The converters have efficiencies of up to 91.5% and can operate with baseplate temperatures between -40 and 105°C.

All models have the industry standard quarter-brick pin-out, with a choice of four package types. A flanged baseplate allows for cold plate cooling, or a non-flanged baseplate can be selected for use with standard quarter-brick heat sinks.

A cost optimised open frame construction is available for applications with airflow. Alternatively, for harsh environments, an encapsulated plastic case style can be chosen that performs well with minimal airflow in high temperatures.

The input to output isolation is 1,500Vdc for the open frame models, 2,250Vdc for the non‑flanged encapsulated construction or 3,000Vdc for the flanged encapsulated converters.

All models are fully protected, with auto-recovery, against input under voltage, output over voltage, over temperature and over current. The series is safety certified to IEC/EN/UL 60950-1 with CE marking for the Low Voltage and RoHS2 Directives.
