Now available from Nu Horizons are what is said to be the world’s highest current density buck regulators – Exar’s PowerBlox range – enabling highly efficient designs in a small footprint. The PowerBlox family is also the widest input synchronous buck regulator series on the market.
PowerBlox power supplies feature extremely high current density, typically 12A in 7cm2. A high level of integration, combined with a small 7 by 4mm DFN package, mean the devices occupy minimal board area for such a high current solution.

These easy to implement, high current step down regulators feature low RDS(ON) built-in synchronous FETs; for example, the 12A device has an 8m FET. This allows designers to avoid having to specify external FETs, saving time.

The PowerBlox series features a wide input voltage range of 2.5 to 28V, low output voltage down to 0.8V and devices are typically more than 94% efficient. 300, 600, 900 and 1300 kHz modes of operation are available. For applications that involve sequencing multiple supplies, integrated sequencing control is included.

PowerBlox has its own PowerBlox Lab online design tool and downloadable offline simulator.
