Suitable for low power applications, such as appliances, IoT, metering and industrial bias power, the LinkSwitch-XT2 offline converter ICs have been announced by Power Integrations.

According to the company, they offer high accuracy, high efficiency and excellent no-load performance. The ICs target isolated and non-isolated flyback applications where regulation of output voltage and current are required. They can deliver up to 6.1W in wide-input range designs, and up to 9.2W for 230V AC open-frame applications.

They are suitable for flyback topologies where current and voltage regulation better than ±3% and typical efficiency above 80% is required. The ICs consume less than 10mW in no-load conditions. High operating frequency of 132 kHz enables the use of small power transformers, while the programmable current limit function enables further transformer optimisation.

LinkSwitch-XT2 converters combine a 725V power MOSFET with control circuitry on a single silicon die. Integrated safety and reliability features include input over-voltage protection, hysteretic thermal shutdown for over-temperature protection, and auto-restart for output short-circuit, overvoltage and open-loop protection.
There are three packages available, P-package (DIP-8C), D-package (SO-8C), and G-package (SMD-8C).
