A family of fanless, conduction-cooled AC/DC power supplies that can deliver 600W across a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +85°C has been introduced by Artesyn Embedded Technologies.

Unlike many power supplies on the market, which typically require output derating above approximately 55°C, a LCC600 supply fed from a nominal 110VAC input is capable of maintaining its full 600W load capacity up to its maximum baseplate temperature of 85°C. This is especially cost-effective for users who would otherwise need to budget for larger or additional power supplies.

The power supplies feature a universal 90-264VAC input with optional 180-305VAC input, enabling them to be used virtually anywhere in the world without adjustment. The first models available feature a single 28 or 48VDC output, with wide adjustment and 5V standby voltage output. Artesyn will expand the series to include other voltage output models. The LCC600 power supplies, which have a typical efficiency of 93%, feature 228x101x39.8mm footprint.

The LCC600 power supplies are housed in a robust fully-sealed enclosure with optional IP65 protection against the ingress of dust and water. This makes the devices suitable for applications that require the power supply to be located in the same outdoor environment as the equipment it is powering, such as bulk power for outdoor signage and for telecomms installations such as antenna and base station equipment.

The power supplies are equally suitable for indoor use, such as in control consoles, indoor signage and medical applications, where the absence of cooling fans can help to minimise dust and noise. The LCC600 power supplies are fully approved to the international EN60601-1 medical safety standard and can be used in non-patient contact and non-patient critical equipment.
