Power management company Eaton has extended its range of compact PowerXL DC1 variable frequency drives with the addition of a high power 22kW model. The range now provides easy to handle and quick to commission drives solutions from 0.37 to 22kW. This enables machine and system builders to drive simple, high performance applications efficiently and cost-effectively using a familiar drives range.

Typical applications covered by the DC1 range include pumps and fans, conveyors, rotating machines, coating systems and filling machines.

The DC1 variable frequency drives have an impressively quick and easy setup. Also, once determined, parameter settings can be transferred to additional devices at the push of a button using a memory stick. This makes them particularly suitable for serial applications.

All DC1 models feature IP20 protection, with IP66 protection for the low power frame sizes to 7.5kW. As performance remains unaffected even in ambient temperatures of up to 50°C, the drives are therefore ideal for use in control cabinets or in harsh environments, as well as for distributed applications.

“Our expansion of the range of PowerXL DC1 variable frequency drives was driven by customer requirements. It is extremely important for us to work closely with our customers to help them realise new projects faster and more effectively,” explained Andreas Miessen, Drives Product Manager at Eaton. “For simple applications, the new high power frame size enables customers to remain within the DC1 range, where before they would have had to consider switching to higher-functioning, more expensive products.”

CoDeSys functional blocks enable all PowerXL variable frequency drives to connect easily to Eaton control systems and HMIs. In addition to the standard Modbus RTU and CANopen interface, the entire product range provides the option of connecting with Eaton’s intelligent wiring and communication technology, SmartWire-DT.
