DC/DC converters offering a wide input voltage range and high efficiency, have been released by MTM Power. The PCMDS150WK-IP65 150W converters are available with a wide input range for battery voltages of 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 80, 96 and 110V according to EN 50 155. This is enabled by the push-pull topology used while developing these converters.

With a transformer and a secondary linear choke, a galvanically isolated output voltage of 24V is produced which can be adjusted by pulse-width modulation according to the current mode principle.

The converters thermoselective vacuum encapsulation guarantees uniform heat dissipation within the modules as well as resistantance against environmental influences such as shock, vibration and moisture.

The PCMDS150WK-IP65 converters need no ground load and are short-circuit protected by primary and secondary power limiting. They are also maintenance-free, prepared for the use in devices with Protection Class II and fulfil the low voltage directive. As well as this, the converters have a rugged design, having undergone an automatic piece-by-piece test and featuring SMD technology. Cooling is achieved by free convection.

By complying with EN 60 068-2-1/2-2/2-11/2-14/2-30, the PCMDS150WK-IP65 are suitable for applications requiring an IP65 protection degree. These include vehicle and rail technology applications, as well as industrial and telecommunication applications.
