DIN-Rail Power Supplies Support DeviceNet

DIN-Rail Power Supplies Support DeviceNet
PULS has announced the introduction of two new DIN-Rail power supplies aimed at the growing DeviceNet market. DeviceNet is a low-cost communications link used to connect industrial devices, typically in factory automation applications. Devices such as; limit switches, photoelectric sensors, valve manifolds, motor starters, process sensors, bar code readers, variable frequency drives, panel displays and operator interfaces may be connected to a DeviceNet network eliminating expensive hard wiring. The direct connectivity provides improved communication between devices as well as important device-level diagnostics not easily accessible or available through hard wired I/O interfaces.

500mA, 1MHz Synchronous Boost Regulator in a 2mm x 2mm DFN

500mA, 1MHz Synchronous Boost Regulator in a 2mm x 2mm DFN
Linear Technology has announced the LTC3526, a 1MHz, current mode, synchronous boost DC/DC converter with output disconnect and integrated soft-start capability. Its internal 500mA switches can deliver output voltages as high as 5V from an input voltage range of 0.85V to 4.4V, making it ideal for Li-Ion/Polymer or single/multicell alkaline/NiMH applications. The LTC3526 can deliver up to 100mA of continuous output current (at 3.3V) from a single alkaline cell. Synchronous rectification enables efficiencies of up to 94% while Burst Mode operation lowers quiescent current to only 9uA, providing extended battery run-time in handheld applications. The combination of a 2mm x 2mm DFN-6 package and a constant switching frequency of 1MHz minimize both inductor and capacitor sizes, providing a tiny solution footprint required in handheld applications.

Regulator facilitates direct 48 V-to-load power conversion with 91% efficiency

Regulator facilitates direct 48 V-to-load power conversion with 91% efficiency
Vicor has introduced a high power (>1100 W/in3) 320W PRM non-isolated regulator. Designated P045F048T32AL, this latest V•I Chip component is designed for high-performance 48V power applications such as servers, telecom and ATE. It provides a controlled Factorized Bus distribution voltage for powering downstream VTM current multipliers, creating fast, efficient, isolated, low-noise Point-of-Load (POL) converters. With an efficiency of 97% and matched with a 94% VTM unit, it enables direct 48 V-to-load with 91% efficiency, eliminating the need for an intermediate 12 V bus conversion stage and VRMs.

Intelligent battery charger/power management IC

Intelligent battery charger/power management IC
Portable system designers who want to guarantee that the battery charges at maximum available current during simultaneous system operation must typically build that functionality into the system with discrete components. By continuously monitoring the power needs of the system during operation and automatically adjusting charge current accordingly, AnalogicTech’s AAT3670 delivers the highest possible charge current to the battery and thereby minimises battery charge time, while reducing parts count, BOM and PCB board space requirements.

1A Step-Down DC/DC Converter and Two 300mA VLDO Regulators in a single IC

1A Step-Down DC/DC Converter and Two 300mA VLDO Regulators in a single IC
Linear Technology has announced the LTC3446, a 1A, 2.25 MHz, synchronous buck regulator with two 300mA VLDOs in a single monolithic IC. The input voltage range of 2.5V to 5.5V makes this triple output regulator ideal for single cell Li-Ion/Polymer, or multicell alkaline/NiCad/NiMH powered applications. It can generate output voltages as low as 0.8V from the buck regulator and 0.4V for each of the VLDOs, enabling it to power the latest generation of low voltage DSPs and microcontrollers. The buck regulator's 2.25MHz switching frequency and the VLDO design enable the use of tiny, low cost externals, providing a very compact solution footprint for handheld applications.

Front-Ends and Rectifiers provide up to 650W and power density of 11.2W/in³

Front-Ends and Rectifiers provide up to 650W and power density of 11.2W/in³
UNIPOWER has announced additions to its Sigma Series of hot-swap front-ends and rectifiers. The new models, now rated at up to 650W, have the same 1U x 2U profile (40.6 x 83.8mm) and are only 279mm long. They also incorporate a number of features designed to make the power sources easy to use and easy to monitor, particularly when used with the customer friendly 19” shelf. At just 0.95Kg (2.05lbs ), they are also among the lightest units available today. Available as front-ends or rectifiers, the modules operate from a universal input voltage from 85 to 264VAC and provide output voltages of 12, 13.6, 24, 27.2, 48 or 54.4VDC. An isolated 5V, 100mA standby output is included. Maximum output power per module is between 300 and 650W which equates to a power density of up to 11.2W/in³. An ORing diode on the output is standard.
