2W LED Driver Addresses High-Power Backlighting Applications
Catalyst Semiconductor has announced a 2W LED driver to address high-power backlighting applications. The CAT4240 boost converter provides a high switch current up to 750mA and high voltage up to 38V, making it ideal for driving a wide range of backlighting applications ranging from 1W LEDs in series to multiple strings of lower-power LEDs.

XP Power has announced the availability of its new Power Supply Guide for 2007/2008. The guide, containing 208 pages, has had a total of 30 new product ranges added since the last edition. It provides detailed information on many aspects of XP Power’s standard product range. AC/DC products range from 5 Watts to 2,400 Watts and include open frame, u-channel, desktop, DIN rail, industrial and medical power supplies. Also included are DC/DC converters rated from 1 Watt to 400 Watts, and military component based power modules and filters.

SynQor today announces the release of the IQ1B series of 110V input Quarter Brick DC/DC Converters, targeting Railway & Transportation Applications. The wide input voltage range of 66-160V more than covers the requirements of EN50155 for both steady state and transient voltage conditions. A broad range of output voltages are available, with a maximum power level of 150W in the industry standard 2.30” x 1.45” quarter brick package size. Available output voltages are 1.8V/40A; 3.3V/30A; 5V/25A; 7V/20A; 12V/12A; 15V/10A; 24V/6A; 30V/5A and 48V/3A. Efficiency is as high as 91%.

Vicor announces the availability of MIL-COTS 28 V DC-DC V•I Chip modules. This new product line consists of a 28 Vdc input PRM™ regulator and a family of VTM™ current multipliers with output voltages from 1 to 50 Vdc. The PRM and VTM chipset provides the full functionality of a DC-DC converter with high efficiency and higher power density, fast transient response, low noise, and flexible thermal management. With each module weighing only 15 grams and measuring just 32.5 x 22 x 6.6 mm, the chipset offers specific advantages for designing power systems in mission-critical portable and airborne applications.

Micropower, Low Noise Boost Converters with Integrated Schottky Diode
Linear Technology has announced the LT3494/A low noise boost converters with integrated power switches, Schottky diodes and output disconnect circuitry. The LT3494 uses a 180mA switch, the LT3494A uses a 350mA switch, and both parts are packaged in a 3mm x 2mm DFN-8 package. Their wide 2.3V to 16V input voltage range enables operation from single cell Li-Ion batteries up to fixed 12V input rails, delivering outputs up to 40V. The LT3494 can deliver over 17mA of current at 15V from a single Li-Ion cell, making it ideal for applications such as OLED displays. The LT3494A has higher current capability and can deliver over 27mA of current at 15V from a single Li-Ion cell.

24-Bit, 4-Channel Delta-Sigma ADC Includes Calibrated Temperature Sensor and Easy Drive Input Current Cancellation
Linear Technology has introduced the LTC2492, a 4-channel delta-sigma analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that integrates a temperature sensor and a novel front-end design in a tiny 4mm x 3mm DFN package. The LTC2492's Easy Drive™ design results in zero average differential input current, allowing measurements of high impedance input sources without the need for an internal buffer. This patented sampling scheme simplifies the design of front-end signal conditioning circuits and allows the ADC to be driven directly from bridges, RTDs, thermocouples and high impedance sensors. Rail-to-rail input signals can be directly digitized while maintaining excellent DC accuracy (2ppm INL).
