Power-One’s FNP600-12 is a 600W hot-swap AC-DC front end that features extensive I2C-compatible monitoring and control capabilities. Utilizing an 85 to 264VAC universal input, the FNP600-12’s 51-amp main output can be adjusted from 7 to 12VDC, making it an ideal bus-voltage source for a wide range of isolated and point-of-load DC-DC converters in networking and storage systems.

The industry-standard I2C interface facilitates readily-configurable communications with the host system. Static information includes serial number, part number, and place/date of manufacture. Monitored operating parameters include input voltage, output voltage and current, and overtemperature alarms. Control functions include output voltage (supported by an internal microcontroller), unit enable, and fan speed. The I2C interface is powered by a 12VDC @ 0.5-amp standby output that also supports host-system specific startup requirements and increases overall applications flexibility.

The FNP600-12 can be mounted in either 1U or 2U high configurations. Overall dimensions of 1.6 x 3.3 x 11 inches (40.6 x 83.8 x 279.4 mm) include an internal fan. A migration path to an 850-watt front end with the same overall dimensions is available in the event that power requirements increase. Full-featured, five-slot FRHN850 shelves with 3000-watt capability are also available.

Agency compliances include UL60950-1, CSA 60950-1-03, EN 60950-1, Class B radiated and conducted EMI, and CE marking to the Low Voltage Directive (LVD). In addition, EN61000-4 EMC compliance testing includes ESD (-2), Radiated (-3), Burst (-4), Surge (-5), Conducted (-6), and Input Interruptions (-11).
