MacDermid Autotype is launching an innovative addition to its proven Autotex range of hardcoated textured polyester films. Called Autotex Soft Touch, the new material has been developed to provide a uniquely soft tactile finish, combined with excellent resistance to surface wear and abrasion, and a wide range of chemicals and solvents.

MacDermid Autotype launches an innovative ‘soft touch’ film combining maximum wear resistance with outstanding tactile features.

With a fine flat matt or silky finish Autotex Soft Touch is ideal for surface applications such as nameplates or membrane switches, wherever a high quality tactile experienced might be required. The film can be easily embossed creating domed switches that can withstand over 5 million actuations. As well as maintaining formability and flexibility, Autotex Soft Touch is resistant to many different cleaning chemicals and solvents, offers exceptional image definition and compatibility with conventional and specialised screen inks, and can also be combined with MacDermid Autotype’s high performance Windotex lacquer to produce high clarity display windows.

The new material complements MacDermid Autotype’s existing range of textured films, giving product designers a comprehensive choice of finishes, including gloss, antiglare, fine, velvet, metallic effect (such as Autotex Steel) and now Soft Touch - all from a single supplier. The new finish provides an extremely cost effective option to traditional methods of achieving a similar finish with conventional methods, such as spray coatings, giving screen printers and production engineers far greater control over product consistency and quality.

Autotex Soft Touch is being supplied in roll or sheet format and thicknesses of either 150 or 200 microns, and is supported globally by MacDermid Autotype’s network of sales offices and specialised distributors.
