Productronica 2011, the world’s leading exhibition for everyone involved with electronics production, will take place at the New Munich Trade fair Centre from 15 -18 November. In addition to showcasing the very latest in production equipment and production techniques, productronica 2011 also encompasses the many industry sectors that operate alongside product manufacturing.
These include Test and Measurement, Materials processing or production subsystems.
As usual, productronica 2011 will be much more than simply an exhibition where companies show product to visitors. There will be special areas of interest spread throughout the exhibition halls and productronica 2011 will also focus on several industry sectors considered key to the future of the electronics production industry. These new focus areas include:

• Photovoltaics manufacturing, batteries and power storage
• Organic and printed electronics, polytronics
• Manufacturing and Process Software
• Electronic Manufacturing Services EMS

As well as these new and innovative areas of future growth, productronica 2011 will also present products and services in the following sectors:

• Semiconductor and display manufacturing
• Micronano-production
• PCB and other circuit-carrier manufacturing
• Component mount technology
• Soldering technology
• Hybrid-component manufacturing
• Materials processing, LED production and discrete devices
• Technologies in cable processing
• Coil ware manufacturing
• Test and measurement, quality assurance
• Product finishing
• Production logistics and material-flow technology
• Production subsystems
• Production materials/equipment, environmental technology and clean-room technology
• Services

productronica has also undergone a management reorganization. Norbert Bargmann, Deputy CEO of the Board of Management of Messe München GmbH, has assumed overall management responsibility for the event. Christian Rocke has been appointed as the Exhibition Director and the Chairman of the Advisory Board is Rainer Kurtz, Managing Partner of ERSA GmbH, Europe’s largest manufacturer of soldering systems, and Chairman of the Board of Management of the Kurtz Group in Wertheim.
According to Bargmann, the new management team is facing the following challenges: “Thanks to the new team, productronica is well-equipped to extend its position as the world’s leading trade fair for innovative electronics production. By cooperating closely with the industry, we will offer both exhibitors and visitors a platform that is geared towards their requirements and objectives. I am delighted that Rainer Kurtz has agreed to act as the new Chairman of the Advisory Board. He is an expert with in-depth knowledge of the demands of the industry and will bring all his international experience to bear in this position. Mr. Kurtz has also held the post of Chairman of the Productronics Association in the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) since January 2010 and will therefore integrate its network in productronica.”
When productronica was last staged during the “economically interesting” latter stages of 2009, the trade fair attracted 1150 exhibitors with 39% of these coming from overseas. There were product presentations, live demonstrations and forums across 75000m of exhibition space seen by over 28000 visitors from more than 80 countries.
