PerkinElmer has announced the introduction of its new Cool Eye Thermopile Line Array, designed for energy conservation and indoor climate control in today’s greener, smarter appliances. PerkinElmer’s new Thermopile Line Array detector is designed to meet applications that require low resolution 3-D thermal images capable of resolving humans and small animals without the use of expensive, high-resolution infrared (IR) imaging cameras.
PerkinElmer’s new 16-element thermopile array has increased sensitivity as compared to older models. This enhanced sensitivity provides significant improvements in temperature resolution, thus enhancing energy conservation by up to 30% in today’s HVAC applications. The Cool Eye also offers greater flexibility, due to microcontroller integration, and is easier for OEMs to integrate into their overall system.

“PerkinElmer is pleased to introduce at Sensor + Test 2009 its new Cool Eye Thermopile Line Array for energy management in both home and office automation applications such as HVAC, reflecting our commitment to providing a pipeline of infrared sensing technology innovations,” said Michael Ersoni, vice president and general manager, PerkinElmer’s global detection business. “We are focused on new energy conservation solutions not only for home and office automation, but a range of other demanding markets including presence detection for safety and security applications.”
