Juki Corporation, a world-leading provider of automated assembly products and systems, announces that its KE-1070/KE-1080 modular placement systems have greatly exceeded sales forecasts since their release in late 2010.
President Bob Black said, “We thought that the market would be receptive to the KE-1070/KE-1080 line of machines, but so far it has been far better that we anticipated. We are working hard to keep these machines in stock for immediate delivery to our customers.”

The KE-1070/KE-1080 machines are intended to meet the need for reliable, cost-efficient placement solutions for the mid-range market. KE-1070/KE-1080 machines are built using the same topology as the popular KE-2070/KE-2080 machines that have had tremendous success in the marketplace.

“Juki has been careful to build its brand based on the high-quality, flexibility and reliability of its machines. The KE-1070/KE-1080 is an extension of this philosophy. The machines can do everything that our customers require at a great price,” commented Juki Marketing Manager Geron Ryden.

The KE-1070 has a four-nozzle head with a rated IPC9850 speed of 15,500 CPH and a component placement range from 01005 (0402 metric) to 33.5mm2. The KE-1080 adds a fifth nozzle to handle larger parts and uses a tri-colored advanced vision system featuring blue, green and red LEDs for accurate placement of fine-pitch ICs, connectors and odd-shaped components. Additionally, the KE-1080 has an IPC9850 rated speed of 14,100 CPH for chips, and 3,400 CPH for IC components when using the advanced lighting system. The effective component placement range for the KE-1080 is 01005 (0402 metric) to 74mm2 or 50 x 150 mm.

For the best results in repeatability, accuracy and reliability, all Juki machines use the LNC60 optical centering laser that is built into the head to easily measure components while moving from the pick to the placement site. This eliminates the need to move to a stationary or line scan camera, creating an efficient method of component measurement centering. LNC60 is not affected by the color of a part and easily can transfer a part profile back to the database. Other important features of the LNC60 optical centering laser include the ability to detect the exact height of the nozzle tip, bent nozzle detection and a tombstone pick check. Additionally, the laser ensures that a component is present before placement and that the component has been placed successfully.

KE-1070 and KE-1080 are compatible with all current Juki feeders and trolleys, resulting in seamless installations into existing Juki lines. The machines feature powerful line optimization software and rugged trolley carts that make changeover quick and easy. They also feature an auto-pick correction feature that minimizes setup time and ensures accurate picking of even the smallest components, as well as a “BGA” auto-teach feature that allows the operator to automatically “learn” the ball or lead pattern on BGAs and QFPs. This method is much faster and more accurate than manual data entry.

Juki manufactures high-quality SMT placement systems for use in the electronics manufacturing industry. Renowned for producing reliable, flexible placement equipment that is both easy to use and maintain, Juki recently has emerged as a significant player in the high-speed market. As the pioneer of the modular placement machine in the early 90s, Juki has increased the speed of its machines while maintaining quick changeovers and high uptimes. Juki also is the first SMT placement manufacturer to offer a standard three-year full parts warranty on machines sold in the Americas and Europe.
