IDT has announced the IDT 75S10000B search accelerator series, offering high performance, low power, cost effective packet header processing solutions for enhanced table support up to 40Mbit in enterprise-, metro- and carrier-class switches and routers. The new devices extend the industry-leading IDT search performance to 1.2billion searches per second – the fastest performing packet header processing solution available in the industry today. The new series also introduces current surge control, an advanced power management technique that allows the user to minimise voltage droop on the core power supply during a search, enabling improved signal integrity within the customer’s application.
The new devices will enable customers to solve complex network challenges, such as quad-play-ready networking applications, increasing security and access control, and supporting broader address spaces – while maintaining high-availability bandwidth at line rates of 40Gbit/s and beyond. IDT customers already using the 75S10000A search accelerator series in their production designs can easily adopt the new series of devices because they are pin and software compatible with the existing family members, enabling customers to preserve their hardware and software investments. The 75S10000B series also introduces flexible results in management, which enables IDT customers to optimise their packet processing solutions around their search performance needs. This can deliver up to a 20% reduction in interface pin count to the search complex, while providing a 20% increase in performance and 100% increase in density.

As with all members of the IDT search accelerator family, the 75S10000B devices implement enhanced error detection and correction (ECC); used to ensure data integrity while providing the most reliable search solution in the market. IDT implements dedicated ECC and parity bits that preserve a true 80-bit data interface. To ensure the thermal requirements of customers are met, the devices also offer advanced power saving features, such as dynamic database management and intelligent pipelined search. These techniques can be used in tandem to selectively reduce the number of entries being searched during table look-ups, reducing power consumption by up to 75%.

As with the 75S10000A family, the new 75S10000B search accelerators come with the same highly integrated software package and evaluation system that enable easy programming an early testing. This reduces implementation costs, shortens time to market and protects the customer’s software investment. The new devices are also strongly supported by a diverse ecosystem of network processor and Ethernet switch vendors that have adopted the unique interface from IDT to ensure seamless interoperability.
