Murata has commenced mass production of what is believed to be the world’s smallest 1µF MLCC measuring EIA015008 (0.5x0.25x0.25mm) case size. Featuring X5R characteristics and rated with a 6.3VDC working voltage, the 015008 1µF capacitor aids high-density mounting on a PCB substrate because this MLCC cuts the component volume ratio by approximately half, achieving the world’s smallest component volume for an MLCC with the same characteristics.

As the space-constrained enclosures of mobile electronics such as smartphones and wearable devices become smaller and lighter, there is a similar requirement placed on the electronic components used. Murata has increased the accuracy of its proprietary elemental technology for this capacitor and expects to further contribute to the miniaturization and sophistication of mobile electronics.
