VPG has introduced a series of ultra-high-precision Z1 Foil Technology wraparound surface-mount chip resistors designed for high-temperature applications to +225°C. Featuring gold-plated terminals for design flexibility, the FRSG series devices offer low TCR of ±2.5 ppm/°C maximum from -55 to +200°C (+25 °C ref.), tight tolerances to ±0.01% and load-life stability to ±0.1% after 2,000 hours of working power at +200°C.

"Built on Z1 Foil Technology, FRSG series devices are able to extend the advanced performance features of Bulk Metal resistors - including tight tolerances and excellent load-life stability - to high-temperature environments, without sacrificing their low TCR," said Jacky Acoca, Director of sales and marketing, VFR. "In addition, the devices' gold-plated terminals support a wide range of mounting methods used throughout the industry, providing designers with the flexibility to meet the needs of their specific applications."

Optimised for down-hole drilling, oil and gas exploration, and avionics, military and aerospace applications, the resistors offer a resistance range from 10Ω to 125kΩ, with any conceivable ohmic value within this range (to six digits) available with no additional cost or lead time effect. Available in six case sizes from 0603 to 2512, the devices provide working power to 750mW at +70°C and 300mW at +200°C.

The resistors feature a rise time of 1ns with effectively no ringing, a thermal stabilisation time of under 1s (within 10ppm of steady state value), current noise of ≤0.010μVrms/V of applied voltage (less than -40dB), and a voltage coefficient under 0.1 ppm/V. Offering the utmost in ESD immunity, the RoHS-compliant devices withstand electrostatic discharges of at least 25kV for increased reliability and offer a non-inductive (less than 0.08μH), non-capacitive design.

Rapid prototype samples are available on request. Production quantities are available in as few as 10 weeks.
