Resistors offer lower PCB temperatures
Stackpole's BR series is a radial leaded thru hole current sense resistor series offering power ratings up to 5W. The BR series elevates the resistive element off of the board for maximum cooling into the ambient air and minimising the amount of heat that must be dealt with at the board level.
The BR is available in 1, 3, and 5W power ratings, in values from 5 to 100mΩ and in tolerances as low as 1%. This makes the BR suitable for power management in power supplies, small motors, industrial controls as well as audio applications, robotics and portable power tools.
Pricing for the BR varies with size, resistance value and tolerance and ranges from $0.16 to $0.38 for the most common values and sizes in full package quantities. Current lead-times are 8 weeks, with many popular values and sizes available from stock.
