Enhancing its E/H series of precision MIL-PRF-55342-qualified thin film surface-mount resistor chips, Vishay has introduced a device offering a 'T' level failure rate for critical space applications. Intended for satellite and communication applications with stringent performance requirements, the E/H series' all-sputtered wraparound terminations provide excellent adhesion and dimensional uniformity.

Qualified to TCR characteristics E, H, K, L, and M in 12 case sizes, the devices feature an electroplated nickel barrier layer for operating conditions to +150°C, a TAMELOX resistive element and a high-purity alumina substrate for high power ratings to 1W.

In addition to very low noise of less than -25dB and a low voltage coefficient of less than 0.1ppm/V, E/H series resistors offer an absolute TCR down to ±25ppm/°C, laser-trimmed tolerances down to ±0.1% and a wide resistance range from 10Ω to 6.19MΩ, depending on case size and TCR characteristics.

The established reliability of the resistors is assured through 100% screening and extensive environmental testing that includes complete 100% Group A power conditioning and Group B lot testing, through which the devices have been rated and approved for a 'T' failure rate level. In addition, the thin film resistors meet the ASTM-E595 requirements for outgassing in a vacuum environment.

The devices provide a shelf-life stability of ±0.01% and are offered in antistatic waffle pack or tape-and-reel packaging. Samples and production quantities of the 'T' level devices are available now with lead times of 10 weeks.
