Planar transformers offer DCR as low as 7.2mΩ
Designed for for power over Ethernet (PoE) and -48V network power applications, the PL160 and PL300 series of surface mount planar transformers have been announced by Coilcraft. Both product series offer high efficiency, excellent DCR as low as 7.2mΩ, and very low leakage inductance as low as 0.20µH.
The PL160 series is rated for 160W in the range of 200-700kHz with a nominal 48V input, and the PL300 Series is rated to 300W. They also provide 1500Vrms primary-to-secondary isolation and 0.009" (0.229mm) clearance above the seating plane. Both are RoHS compliant and feature matte tin over nickel over brass terminations. Both series can also be special ordered with an optional auxiliary winding.
