Extending its VY1 series of AC-line-rated ceramic disc safety capacitors, Vishay Intertechnology has announced devices offering reduced sizes and higher pulse strength up to 10kV. The VY1 Compact series is designed for RFI and AC line filtering applications in power supplies, power and smart meters, white goods and consumer electronics.

With body diameters down to 7.5mm, devices in the VY1 Compact series are designed to save space while providing higher reliability for Class X1 (760VAC) and Y1 (500VAC) applications in accordance with IEC 60384-14.3, third edition. They offer a capacitance range from 470 to 4,700pF, with tolerances of ±20%, over a temperature range from -40 to +125°C.

The devices consist of a copper-plated ceramic disc with tinned copper-clad steel connection leads offering 0.6mm diameters. VY1 Compact series capacitors are available with vertical (inline) kinked leads or straight leads with spacing of 10 or 12.5mm. RoHS-compliant and halogen-free, the devices' encapsulation is made of flame-resistant epoxy resin in accordance with UL 94 V-0.

Samples and sample kits of the VY1 Compact series are available now. Production quantities are available now, with lead times of 8-10 weeks for larger orders.
