Hectronic has a long history of developing maritime solutions and in the end of 2020, it won a big project with a Norwegian maritime company. Now it has signed a new deal within the same field, this time with a Swedish maritime company. The Swedish embedded company are to develop and update the customers product family of maritime computers.

The company is looking for a future-proof solution that is more cost efficient. The maritime industry has developed a lot since the current computers were launched to the market, therefore the customer now sees many opportunities to include interesting new features. The project is one of both innovation and efficiency.

“It is very exciting for Hectronic to be given the trust to work with this project. We are looking forward to develop new solutions and the next generation of maritime computers together with the customer,” said Magnus Wingmark, Key Account Manager at Hectronic.

Together with the customer, Hectronic has laid the groundwork for the project, specifying what requirements need to be met. The computers will be IP56 classified and be approved to maritime demands according to DNV GL and Bureau Veritas. In addition to this the whole maritime industry stands before a paradigm shift. From January 1st 2022 all hardware that’s to be sold needs to have the new AICS certification.

The development is planned to proceed during 2021 and for the new computers to be launched in the beginning of 2022.

“The fact that yet another customer from the maritime industry chose Hectronic is proof that we are very reputable within the embedded development segment in general and even more in particular within the maritime segment,” added Anders Rundqvist, Sales and Marketing Director at Hectronic.
