A varied selection of topics in this year's conference programme, accompanies an increased number of exhibitors for this annual power event.

PCIM Europe (5 to 7 June 2018) has already surpassed last year’s number of visitors, with over 470 companies on the exhibitor list.

Over half (51%) are from companies outside of Germany. The annual event is a showcase for power semiconductor and passive components, power converters, power supplies and thermal management, coils and magnetic materials and attracts visitors from a range of industries, including industrial, electric mobility, automotive and automation.

This year, the exhibition has increased its e-mobility area, where visitors can see power electronics products and components specifically designed for automotive applications.

The event organisers have also released the programme for the accompanying conference. Topics include recent developments in power semiconductors, passive components, thermal management products, energy storage, sensors and new materials.

A keynote by Drazen Dujic, Power Electronics Laboratory, EPFL, Switzerland is entitled ‘Electric Vehicles Charging – An Ultrafast Overview’, and there will also be sessions on ‘Advanced Solutions for Charging Electric Vehicles’, with lectures from representatives from Toshiba, Japan and the Fraunhofer Institute IISB, Germany.

Six seminars and nine tutorials will cover topics such as ‘Advanced System Design with Ultra-Fast Si/SiC/GaN Power Semiconductor Devices’, ‘Modern Magnetic Technologies for High Efficiency and High Power Density’ and ‘Reliability of Si and SiC Power Devices and Packages’. A one-day tutorial by Ionel Dan Jitaru, Rompower, USA, will focus on ‘Modern Soft Switching Technologies’.
