Knowles Electronics, LLC, an operating company of Dover Corporation has announced the completion of the acquisition of the Sound Solutions business of NXP Semiconductors N.V. The deal was initially announced on December 22, 2010. As a result of the transaction, Knowles now has more than 6,000 employees and 16 offices worldwide.
The addition of Sound Solutions and its market-leading range of dynamic speakers and receivers for cell phones and other consumer electronic devices will extend Knowles’ existing product portfolio of hearing aid components and MEMS microphones to provide a significantly broader product offering to its customer base. The companies will combine their unique IP, technology, world-class manufacturing, and talent synergies into the markets they serve.

“The acquisition of Sound Solutions greatly enhances Knowles’s position as the premier mobile phone acoustics company in the world. This deal will provide us with significant opportunities to cross-sell complementary products and leverage scale. Our customers will benefit from the breadth and depth of our products and our commitment to unsurpassed quality and business operations,” said Jeffrey Niew, President and CEO of Knowles.

The combination of Knowles and Sounds Solutions creates a company with the global scale and resources to drive the development of industry-leading micro-acoustic products that address the rapidly expanding mobile phone market. These combined offerings are focused on a ‘one-stop shop’ to meet the rapidly evolving needs of this market.
